Rambus, a premier chip and silicon IP provider, is seeking to hire an exceptional entry-level Applications Engineer to join our Engineering team in San Jose/Agoura Hills, CA. Candidates will be joining some of the brightest inventors and engineers in the world to develop products that make data faster and safer.
As an Applications Engineer, you will be reporting to Director Applications Engineering and is a Full Time position. Seeking an entry-level Applications Engineer to help support US and international customers of Rambus DDR4 and DDR5 memory buffer chips and related products. Hands-on position for lab debug and analysis of complex technical issues involving DRAM, memory DIMMs, signal integrity buffer chips, and server hardware and BIOS operation and interaction. Responsible for preparing test reports, failure analysis reports, product datasheets and application notes.
Responsibilities
- Assist in analyzing and debugging complex technical issues and bringing customer issues to a satisfactory conclusion, with guidance and training from senior AE staff.
- Support technical qualification of new chip designs to secure customer design wins.
- Assist with validation and debug of new memory buffer chips for DDR5 servers.
- Collect and analyze signal integrity data at the circuit board and system level.
- Present technical updates to customers and company management in writing and verbally via quality presentations.
- Prepare technical documentation such as datasheets, user guides and application notes.
Qualifications
- Good understanding of electrical engineering hardware fundamentals and theory.
- Familiarity with probing electrical signals using high speed oscilloscopes and other lab equipment.
- Demonstrated interest in computer hardware architecture and overclocking systems.
- Familiarity with server memory technologies such as DDR3, DDR4 or DDR5 is highly desired.
- Ability to use scripting languages such as Perl, Tcl or Python to analyze data log text files and automate system and bench testing.
- Ability to travel to customer sites as needed, including international travel.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English.
- BS degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related field
