Lead MTS Analog Design Engineer

  • 450 St-Pierre Street, Suite 300, Montreal, Canada, H2Y 2M9
  • 1512 East Franklin St., Suite 200, Chapel Hill, North Carolina, United States, 27514

Rambus, a premier chip and silicon IP provider, is seeking to hire an exceptional mixed-signal design engineer (Lead Member of Technical Staff level) to join our Interconnect Business Unit team in North Carolina. Candidates will be joining some of the brightest inventors and engineers in the world to develop products that make data faster and safer.

As a Lead Member of Technical Staff, the candidate will be reporting to Senior Manager Engineering and is a Full-Time position. The candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the full life cycle of a project: from concept definition to tapeout of customer design. He will work with a highly experienced team where his ideas and efforts will make a difference.

Position preferred: Raleigh, North Carolina or other US/Canada locations.

Responsibilities

Candidate will assume “hands-on” roles and work on leading edge technology in the design of CXL memory interconnect. Candidate will be responsible for the successful execution of critical mixed-signal circuit blocks and work in a team through all phases of development including specification, design, verification, and silicon evaluation. The primary focus of the position is mixed-signal design of high performance and low power mixed-signal circuits in CMOS FinFET technology, which may include chip IO (Tx/Rx), clock synthesis (PLL/DLL), adjustable timing circuits (DCDL), voltage regulators, ESD, equalizers, voltage/current references, or temperature sensors. Additional responsibilities will include layout supervision, technical documentation, and data preparation, presentation of results and evaluation of peer results in design reviews.

Candidate will also be exposed to custom logic design, and the construction of behavioral models using Verilog and Verilog-A.

Qualifications

  • MSEE with 2+ years (or equivalent) of analog/mixed-signal circuit design experience on chip products is required.
  • Candidate must have designed critical circuit blocks in at least one high-speed (>5Gbps) mixed signal macros that were integrated into a standard product or ASIC and successfully went into mass production.
  • Experience with the following tools is required:  Hspice/Spectre and HspiceRF/SpectreRF, AFS, Verilog, Verilog-A, LVS/DRC verification, schematic capture and shell scripting.
  • Excellent oral and written presentations skills are required for team presentations, as well as customer interaction and reviews.
  • Must be self-motivated, detail oriented, and work well in a team across multiple functional disciplines.
  • Specific knowledge or experience with CXL, DDR4/DDR5 DRAM, RCD/DB, or PCIe specifications is highly desirable.
  • Chip design experience in SerDes or Memory PHY is a strong plus.
  • Working knowledge of signal integrity, equalization techniques, or noise analysis is recommended.
  • Low power and low noise design, design for manufacturability, design for testing, or silicon debug/measurement experiences is also desirable.
