Rambus, a premier chip and silicon IP provider, is seeking to hire an exceptional Intern to join the Rambus Labs Security Research Team in our San Jose office. Candidates will be joining some of the brightest inventors and engineers in the world to develop products that make data faster and safer.
The candidate will be reporting to Rambus Fellow Helena Handschuh. The position is a full-time internship for 6-months. The topic of the internship is side-channel analysis and countermeasures for neural networks running on an FPGA.
Responsibilities
The intern will be responsible for the following research activities:
- Select a neural network technology for the project
- Design and implement the neural network directly on our FPGA board, which is designed to facilitate side-channel analysis
- Profile the side-channel characteristics of the neural network and identify sources of information leakage
- Implement attacks to recover neural network parameters such as weights and biases
- Implement countermeasures to these attacks and determine their effectiveness.
The end goal of the internship is a demo showing the difference in information leakage between unprotected and protected neural network implementations.
Qualifications
Requirements/Qualifications:
The intern should be an advanced Ph.D student and must have a very strong background in the following areas:
- Side-channel analysis and attacks on hardware devices
- Side-channel countermeasures
- Proficiency in configuring and programming FPGAs
- Experience designing, training, and running neural network implementations.
