SMTS Program Management

Rambus, a premier chip and silicon IP provider, is seeking to hire an exceptional Senior Program Manager to join our IP Cores PMO in Toronto, Canada. Candidates will be joining some of the brightest inventors and engineers in the world to develop products that make data faster and safer.

As a SMTS Program Manager, the candidate will assume complete responsibility for managing the IP development for SerDes and/or Memory IP programs. You will manage the overall program execution against established technical and business commitments. You will work with Customers, Marketing, and Sales to define external commitments and close opportunities with credibility on the scope and deliverables. In addition to the business teams, you will work with and be supported by a team of passionate engineers in delivering to customer specifications. You will be the lead interface with external customers, a champion of your program, and manage program lifecycle from initial contract discussion all the way to program completion.

The candidate must have an appreciation for technical and customer challenges in IP development from definition through product integration. Technical understanding of analog and digital design flows and methodologies, IP and design enablement.

The candidate must be a self-starter with excellent program planning and management skills in the areas of program effort and schedule planning, milestone tracking using dashboards and metrics. The candidate must have excellent customer relationship skills, interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate, energize and drive teams in resource and schedule constrained situations.

Responsibilities

  • Support sales and marketing in setting achievable goals and customer commitments in pre-sales discussions
  • Point of contact for customers; manage customer communications and expectations in both pre-sales and during active program execution
  • Accountable for customer deliverables and schedule. Develops and maintains current plans for meeting customer expectations and proactively communicates status and actions in a professional manner
  • Conducts regular meetings to ensure customers and internal teams are clear on expectations and problem-solving actions are in place to address issues in a timely manner
  • Program planning, schedules, budgeting, risk assessment, resource planning and management, and tracking customer activities associated with the programs
  • Change management in scope / schedule / expense with internal teams and with customers
  • Maintains adequate technical depth and managerial skill to address program and customer issues
  • Be the internal advocate and champion of your programs and maintain management and key stakeholder alignment
  • Present status of your assigned program to executive management during monthly program reviews.

Qualifications

  • An engineering degree (PMP preferred but not required) and 8 or more years of relevant experience in performing similar responsibilities
  • Technical appreciation of IP development flows (design front end and back end development processes) along with integration challenges in customer ASIC / SoC products
  • Familiarity with customer contracts, IP specifications, SOW execution and program revenue and expense implications
  • Program management and analytical skills, ability to organize information for internal and external consumption
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Project and/or other program management tools
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office tools Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Demonstrated customer empathy and poise in high stress situations required. Customer relationship management experience and strong communication skills will be critical
  • Ability to travel to Rambus sites as well as customer locations as required
